GSE to Venezuela

Only 90 days left to go!

It's Jan. 1 and I'm leaving on April 2 for one month in Venezuela. The team members have not yet been chosen and I'm looking forward to meeting them. We've got a lot of work to do...language and culture classes, picking out clothes to wear as "a team," choosing host gifts for our families that are representative of our state and preparing our speeches to present at Rotary Meetings.

For those of you who don't know why I am going and what is GSE? I'll explain. Group Study Exchange (GSE) is a Rotary sponsored program for 25-40 year olds to further explore their chosen vocations in another country/culture. I know many of you are thinking that I'm beyond the age range but I am actually the Team Leader, not a Team Member so I'm exempt from the age restrictions!!!! The GSE team's goals are not only vocational but also to further good will and friendship.

While we (the team) are in Venezuela, Venezuela will be sending a team of their own to our District (7980) and they will be making appearances in most of our Rotary areas.

I'll be keeping you posted on the goings on of the team at this blog for the next 3 months and for the duration of our trip. I'll hopefully post pics and thoughts about the new adventure at the end of each day!
